Education Program Director’s Message

The importance of genomic research to human health was exemplified during the COVID-19 pandemic. As the virus swept through vulnerable populations, researchers raced to understand the virus, then provide tool for diagnosis, prevention, and treatment. Physician Scientists were uniquely situated to work collaboratively with both highly skilled clinicians, basic and translational scientists to drive genomic innovations leading to COVID-19 breakthroughs. Our support of this programming is essential to expand the number of physician scientists who address clinically relevant research questions, contribute to genomic innovation, and discover novel therapies to treat and prevent disease.
